Physical fitness is a wonderful way to connect your mind, body, and spirit to one harmonious connection. It is very important to continue to treat yourself with respect and put the right food into your body as well as choose the right exercise for your body. Not everyone can go to the gym and lift weights, not everyone wants to. That is why I opened Absolutely Pilates in Bowling Green, KY for all types of people to join in on the fun. Mr. Joe Pilates was a pioneer in the physical fitness world. He practiced and taught his Pilates style over 80 years ago and it truly has stood the test of time. Pilates is a total body core workout. There are a variety of levels to choose from here at Absolutely Pilates as we understand that everyone can be at a different exercise level.
Absolutely Pilates offers a variety of modalities to choose from, once you have decided on your skill set. All of our instructors are highly trained and regarded in the Pilates field and continue to train with some of the leading teachers in the Pilates arena. Some of our instructors are skilled with yoga, core workout, athletic training sessions, and of course fitness training. We also provide some classes that may not be so “normal” but are exceptional in the healing and stretching of the spine, which is a main focus with Pilates classes.
Our instructors lead posture correction and scoliosis correction classes. That are these you as yourself? Posture correction is a great way to expand your muscles and spine to increase blood flow, flexibility, and posture. This process can be new to some of our clients but we try to remind ourselves that our bad habits took some time to develop and it will take some time to change them. For example, slumping over in your chair at work, and posture while walking, sitting in a classroom all day can cause many people to slouch.
Each client has different goals and different bodies so we do our best to incorporate all types of poses and stretches so you can choose and practice the poses and see which ones resonate with you. Another great way to stop these “slouchy” bad habits is to set a timer and throughout the day get up, use some of the great yoga and Pilates poses you have been shown at Absolutely Pilates. Ultimately, you will feel better and will be able to breathe and move more freely, over time.
