I care for adults with a variety of diseases including diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, depression, anxiety, substance use disorder, asthma, COPD, GERD and heart failure. I frequently conduct age-appropriate cancer screenings as part of preventative health care. I also care for patients with opioid use disorder and help these individuals in their recovery from the chronic disease of addiction.I understand that patients value a physician who knows them well and can help them navigate the complex health care system. I find it rewarding to not only diagnose and manage medical problems but to listen closely and provide patient-centered care based on the values of the patient. I may not be able to cure many diseases I see, but I can accompany my patients on their journey of living with their disease. My long-term relationships with patients allow me to align care with their goals and expectations.I also serve as associate program director for the internal medicine residency program and am an associate professor of medicine for UVM's Larner College of Medicine. This position allows me to work closely with and mentor trainees. My research interests include medical education, curricular development, health disparities, population health, addiction medicine and ambulatory quality improvement.
