Karl Marx and Karl Nietzsche both were outspoken critics of religion, and they both had very similar thoughts about the value of human life. However, they did not see things as they were, in their own terms. They believed that humans were of different spiritual build, and that by becoming involved in the modern world, religion was further destroying their way of life. Both philosophers believed that the developed man would finally grasp the nature of humanity, and the gods. Thus, religion, along with art, philosophy, science, and other things were part of modern man's quest for his own immortality. However, when the modern man did become immortal, these things became nothing more than a burden to him. If he did not play by the rules, then the system itself would cease to exist.
Christianity was unique enemy for Marx, because it rejected his ideas about man. He believed that people were meant to work, and that the system should only force mankind to work when the individual was forced to. When the individual was able to escape the system, then he would live and grow. In other words, he thought that if capitalism was not based on the rules of the market, and the forced labor system, then capitalism would eventually lead to total destruction.
Karl Marx and Karl Nietzsche had two different philosophies, but their philosophies both are flawed. As we have discussed, both claim to be followers of philosophy, but are really not at all philosophical. Marx wanted to make the world more like a man, whereas Nietzsche wanted the world to become more like a man. This is why both philosophers were so wrong about almost everything. Karl Marx was simply a man who wanted to rise above nature to live a life of perfect beauty, while Karl Nietzsche wanted to embrace nature and embrace life to create more beautiful works of art.
