I am a pediatric gastroenterologist who provides comprehensive care for children with a broad range of gastrointestinal disorders. My primary clinical and research interests focus on disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBIs), including conditions such as functional abdominal pain and irritable bowel syndrome. During my fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at UNC Children’s Hospital, I developed a particular passion for caring for children affected by DGBIs. Despite their high prevalence, affecting approximately one-third of pediatric patients and more than 40% of adults, these conditions remain underrecognized and often misunderstood. I am dedicated to advancing the understanding of DGBIs and improving treatment strategies that help patients regain function, return to school and daily activities, and achieve a better quality of life. I am also passionate about medical education and enjoy teaching learners at every stage, from students and residents to fellows and patients. I believe education is one of the most powerful tools in medicine and that a deeper understanding of disease helps patients, families, and healthcare professionals navigate challenges more effectively. My commitment to teaching has been recognized with teaching awards during residency and with two teaching awards as a pediatric gastroenterology fellow.
