Hazel Pittman Center serves as the designated state substance abuse authority to provide education, prevention, and outpatient treatment to individuals, families, and groups in Chester County and the immediate surrounding area. Hazel Pittman Center is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), licensed by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), and a member of Behavioral Health Services Association (BHSA) of South Carolina. BHSA is a network of 34 direct service agencies providing prevention, education, intervention, and treatment programs to citizens in all 46 counties of the state. Each year, more than 50,000 South Carolinians receive direct intervention and/or treatment services through these county authorities.
