Paul Cartwright, M.D. is the region’s only fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon. He completed his fellowship in the nation’s only triple-accredited fellowship for Bariatric Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery and Therapeutic Endoscopy. His emphasis is on primary and revisional bariatric surgery, acid-reflux surgery and treatment of Barrett’s esophagus. He is able to remove large polyps from the colon without incisions, perform standard colonoscopies and perform colon removal laparoscopically. Dr. Cartwright also performs laparoscopic surgery on the spleen, gallbladder, abdominal hernia and small intestine. Dr. Cartwright is also the region’s only surgeon with an interest in gastroparesis, a condition thought to have no surgical options. He also regularly performs the complete workup for Gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD by performing his own EGD, pH studies, and high-resolution esophageal manometry which will give the patient exact numeric data regarding the severity of their reflux disease and all the options for treatment available. Dr. Cartwright is the first and highest volume Linx surgeon in the area, regularly revises Nissen fundoplication and laparoscopically repairs the entire range of hiatal or paraesophageal hernia. Dr. Cartwright is also Columbus’ first to offer TIF, a non-surgical method of creating fundoplication without incisions. Dr. Cartwright specializes in bariatric surgery, laparoscopic surgery and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
