Martin Accounting & Tax Service was founded by Kenneth W. Martin Sr. in 1970, the year of the first Illinois Income Tax Return. Since then, the firm has grown from a one-man office to four full time and two part time staff members. In 1979, Ann DeGraff joined the staff as an assistant and bookkeeper and we are fortunate enough to still have her with us. After obtaining a degree in accounting, becoming a Certified Public Accountant, and working in both a corporate environment and for one of the top 25 Chicagoland accounting firms, Ken and Bonnie's youngest daughter, Amber Martin Johnson joined the staff in 1999. While working at Martin Accounting & Tax Service, Amber completed her Master's Degree in Taxation and became a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning. Joe Johnson, Amber's husband, joined the staff in 2005 as a tax preparer and financial strategist. In 2007 he obtained the Certified Financial Planner designation. His finance background has assisted clients with a broad range of financial solutions.At the start of 2006, Ken sold the business to his daughter Amber.
