In 1968 Congress passed the NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE ACT, which created the NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM (NFIP). FEMA ADMINISTERS the program and REGULATED LENDERS enforce the NFIP. In 1994 an Addendum to the NFIP allowed for properties that meet or exceed the 1968 FEMA guidelines to obtain a Letter of Map AMENDMENT DETERMINATION DOCUMENT (Removal). This document is also known as a LOMA/LOMAC.
