About Us
Edmund G. LaCour, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician and rheumatologist serving patients in Dothan, Alabama. He has been practicing rheumatology since 1988. Dr. LaCour received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1983. He then completed his fellowship at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois, and his internal medicine residency at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. Afterward, he pursued his rheumatology fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.
He joined Dothan Medical Associates, PC, in 1993. Before joining Dothan Medical, Dr. LaCour practiced in California and Arkansas.
At his private practice, Dr. LaCour provides comprehensive, evidence-based care. He offers treatments for autoimmune diseases, gout, infusions, lupus, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and Sjogren's syndrome. The team always educates patients about their disease state and treatment options, involving the patient in the decision-making process.
The practice features an infusion suite, osteoporosis center, and gout clinic in the office. Dr. LaCour is the only osteoporosis disease management provider in the area, and the short wait time for patients with early rheumatoid arthritis sets the practice apart. The team also offers diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, and their on-staff technician, Holley Woodham, is specifically trained in joint ultrasonography.
