Dr. Gottlieb (formerly Dr. Schirm) grew up in McLean, Virginia. She graduated from Princeton University, magna cum laude, with an A.B. in Molecular Biology and a certificate in Global Health. After graduating from Princeton, she performed clinical trials research on the RSV vaccine at the National Institutes of Health prior to starting medical school.
