I am also known worldwide for my pioneering research on the effectiveness of Equine-Assisted Mental Health. As a published author and conference speaker, I am considered a thought leader on tackling contemporary issues that both counselors and laypeople face on a daily basis, such as teen suicide, trauma, anxiety, depression, parenting and navigating the emotional pitfalls of social media. I myself experienced a frightening and traumatic event as a passenger on the Carnival Triumph cruise ship that drifted for a nearly a week in the Gulf of Mexico. The ordeal gave me personal knowledge of what it means to suffer from post-traumatic stress. I am an avid organic gardener whose veggie and flower gardens provide me with a creative canvas to nurture my soul. I have been married for nearly 30 years and enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter, and son-in-law, and I love being a grandmother to three beautiful and rambunctious grandchildren.
