Casey T. Davidson, M.D., specializes in orthopaedic spine surgery at the Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee and sees patients at clinics at the main office in Franklin. He offers advanced techniques for treating complex problems of the spine, including alternatives to spinal fusion that can help preserve motion. Davidson completed his medical training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He participated in an AOSpine visiting fellowship with Dr. Paul Heini, M.D., at Sonnenhofspital in Bern, Switzerland, and then went on to complete his spine surgery fellowship with OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, N.C. SCOTT ARTHUR, M.D. SHOULDER AND ELBOW, SPORTS MEDICINE, KIDS AND TEENS, HIP/KNEE REPLACEMENT AND PRESERVATION, GENERAL ORTHOPAEDICS AND FRACTURE CARE

Ian Byram, M.D., is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in treatment of the shoulder and elbow and sports medicine. Dr. Byram graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 2006 and completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where he served as the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery administrative chief resident. He completed fellowship training in shoulder, elbow and sports medicine at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City, where he served as a team physician for Columbia University football and helped care for the New York Yankees. Dr. Byram is one of only a few surgeons in Tennessee to be admitted into the distinguished American Shoulder and Elbow Society (ASES), and one of only two members of the Association of Clinical Elbow and Shoulder Surgeons (ACESS) in the state. He frequently speaks at the national and regional levels on disorders of the shoulder, elbow and sports medicine and was named a committee member and paper moderator for the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (AAOS) Shoulder and Elbow Program. He continues to contribute to his area of expertise, with over 20 publications. Dr. Byram is also design team member for the Exactech CT-Guided GPS shoulder replacement. He is also the chairman of the research and outcomes committee at the Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee. He currently serves as the head team physician for Summit High School in Spring Hill and Grace Christian Academy in Franklin. His personal interests include golf, spending time with his wife and three boys, and working with the First Presbyterian Church, where he serves as a deacon.

Cory Calendine, M.D., is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing anterior hip replacement, robotic joint replacement, and partial and total hip and knee replacement. Dr. Calendine received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, and completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He completed his fellowship training in adult reconstruction of the hip and knee at the world-renowned Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute in Alexandria, Virginia. He has expertise in Mako RIO robotic-arm assisted surgery as well as revision hip and knee replacement, knee arthroscopy (knee scope) and treatment of arthritis and osteoarthritis of the hip and knee. Dr. Calendine currently serves as chief of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery for Williamson Medical Center, where he often hosts national and international visiting surgeons who come to learn about latest techniques and advancements in orthopaedic surgery. He also serves as an elite reviewer for the Journal of Arthroplasty, a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and is one of only eight surgeons chosen to serve on the international Mako Champions faculty. In 2018, he was selected to serve as a member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery Blueprint Development Exercise Work Group, which creates content for national credentialing exams. He also lectures nationally and internationally on joint replacement, most recently at the 2018 Chinese Hip Society in Guiyang, China. When he’s not practicing medicine, Dr. Calendine enjoys golf, movies, racquetball, youth ministry and weightlifting. He also dedicates his time to various nonprofit groups, such as Mission UpReach, City of Children and the Sarah Walker Foundation.

Ronald Derr, D.O., is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery including Achilles tendon surgery, bunion correction, ankle scopes and adult painful flatfoot deformaties. He also has expertise in treating sports medicine injuries such as lisfrancs injuries, ankle and metatarsal fractures and tendon ruptures, and strives to expedite patients’ return to sports through early motion therapy and mobility, minimizing muscle atrophy and evaluating functional safety. He earned his medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed residency training in orthopaedics at Ohio University-Doctors Hospital in Massillon, Ohio. He went on to complete fellowship training at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham and a foot and ankle fellowship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. He is a member of the American Foot and Ankle Society, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, Tennessee Osteopathic Society and Tennessee Medical Association. Dr. Derr has been an integral part of the bone and joint practice since 1996 and currently serves as team physician for Ravenwood High School. He and his wife have four children, and in his spare time, he enjoys sports and spending time with his family.

Richard Gibson, M.D. is a board-certified family medicine and sports medicine physician specializing in the evaluation and non-operative treatment of orthopaedic injuries. He joined the Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee team in September 2021. Originally from Maryville, Tennessee, Dr. Gibson grew up admiring his father’s career as a family medicine physician and team doctor for Maryville College. He was inspired to pursue a career in medicine, earning his undergraduate degrees from University of Tennessee and his Doctor of Medicine from East Tennessee State University. He completed his family medicine residency at Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg, Florida, and his fellowship training at American Sports Medicine Institute, founded by the world-renowned sports medicine specialist Dr. James Andrews, in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Gibson specializes in the evaluation and treatment of concussions and related injuries. Throughout his training, he has served as team physician for multiple high school and college athletics departments, including providing coverage for Troy University, Samford University, Birmingham-Southern University and the SEC baseball tournament. He is the current team physician at Page High School. Outside of the office, Dr. Gibson and his wife, Sarah, enjoy outdoor activities, grilling and smoking meats, especially a good brisket.

Zachary Kalb, D.O., is a physiatrist (physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist) who specializes in interventional spine medicine. His clinical practice focuses on non-surgical treatments for spine- and joint-related pain through image-guided injections, radiofrequency ablation, and other minimally invasive interventions using state-of-the-art techniques to diagnose and treat spine and musculoskeletal conditions. He has performed thousands of image-guided procedures. His non-surgical approach to care is designed to reduce pain and improve function. Kalb often treats patients who wish to delay or avoid surgery or who have continued pain despite prior surgery. Kalb earned his medical degree at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine at Virginia Tech and completed his physiatry residency at Larkin Community Hospital in Miami, Fla. He then completed a fellowship in interventional spine and electrodiagnostic medicine at the OrthoCarolina Spine Center in Charlotte, N.C. In his free time, Kalb enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, biking, mountaineering and playing ice hockey.

John Klekamp, M.D., is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in care of the spine. A native of Ohio, he grew up in north Atlanta and earned his medical degree from the Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia. He began his residency training in internal medicine and completed orthopaedic surgery training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Klekamp received his spine fellowship training at the Emory Spine Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to joining Franklin Bone and Joint in 2004, Dr. Klekamp practiced with Piedmont Orthopaedics in Greenville, South Carolina, where he managed the spine residency training program for Greenville Memorial Hospital and later served as an adjunct instructor with Clemson University Biomechanical Engineering. During that time, he also served as a team physician for the Greenville Growl hockey team, and became a founding member of Medical Expeditions International, a nonprofit organization providing medical care to remote parts of the world. His professional interests include various approaches and treatments of the cervical spine including cervical anterior discectomy, cervical anterior disc arthroplasty, lumbar decompression and minimally-invasive cervical decompression. He has a certification by Zimmer/Biomet for surgery using the Mobi-C cervical disc arthroplasty system. Dr. Klekamp is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the North American Spine Society. He is a father of three boys and enjoys hiking, camping and spending time with his family.

Jeffrey Kutsikovich, M.D., is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in treatment of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder including carpal tunnel release, distal radius fractures, CMC arthroplasty, wrist arthroscopy and shoulder arthroscopy and rotator cuff repair. He has a special interest in tendon repair and and early motion therapies. Dr. Kutsikovich earned his medical degree in 2010 from the Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center Campbell Clinic. He completed fellowship training at the Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center in Indianapolis. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Kutsikovich currently serves as the team physician for Independence High School. He enjoys playing the guitar, skiing and golfing in his spare time.

ERIC KING, FNP-C Eric King, FNP-C, is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and practices under supervising physician Brian Perkinson, M.D. at Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee. A native of Mt. Juliet, TN, he received his Associate of Science in Nursing from Aquinas College then went on for his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from Belmont University in Nashville. He is licensed in the state of Tennessee as an APRN and RN. When he’s not at work, Eric enjoys traveling, running on trails and spending time with his family.

BECK BLEDSOE, PA-C Beck Bledsoe is a certified physician assistant to Colin Looney, M.D. at the Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 2015 from Lipscomb University and went on to earn his Master of Science degree in Medicine from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2018. He is a U.S. Navy veteran and served from 2008-2012 at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, watching hockey and woodworking.

EMILY KENT, PA-C Emily Kent is a certified physician assistant from Pittsburgh, Pa., working with Geoff Watson, M.D., at the Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in health science at James Madison University, then earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree at Chatham University. She received her certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) in the state of Tennessee. She is a part of the Physician Assistants in Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, and the Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, and hiking with her fuzzy labradoodle.

Matthew Anderson, M.D., was born and raised in San Diego, California as the second eldest of seven children. He attended Francis Parker for high school before heading east to Duke University for college. At Duke, Matt played varsity football and lacrosse, winning the NCAA national championship in lacrosse and the Elite 90 Award during his senior year. Matt graduated from Duke University Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy. Dr. Anderson attended the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and graduated with AOA Honors and Distinction in Research. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Columbia University Medical Center where he developed a passion for sports medicine while assisting with the New York Yankees, providing physician team coverage for Columbia University, Manhattan College, and several local high schools, and serving on the AOSSM Team Physician and Athlete Advocacy Committee. Dr. Anderson also produced numerous journal articles and book chapters related to ACL reconstruction, UCL reconstruction (Tommy John surgery), shoulder instability, and shoulder replacement. Dr. Anderson completed a fellowship in sports medicine at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO where he served as team physician for the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), U.S. Ski & Snowboard, and Battle Mountain High School. He also conducted research related to complex meniscus tears and shoulder instability. Dr. Anderson currently serves as a team physician for the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) and U.S. Ski & Snowboard. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys surfing, snowboarding, skiing, and golfing. He and his wife, Jillian, have two children and live in Brentwood.

Preet Gurusamy, M.D. is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement and robotic assisted procedures, and joined the Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee in October 2023. A Texas native, Dr. Gurusamy grew up in the Dallas/Fort-Worth area. Dr. Gurusamy was a member of the rugby team at Dartmouth College and graduated as a Presidential Research Scholar with Honors in Neuroscience. He attended medical school at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso on a full scholarship and graduated with AOA honors. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of California San Diego where he found his passion for joint replacement and authored multiple publications on topics including fracture fixation and sports medicine. He completed his arthroplasty fellowship at Houston Methodist Hospital, the U.S. News & World Report number one ranked orthopedic hospital in Texas. Dr. Gurusamy is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and is Board Eligible for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). Dr. Gurusamy is the official sports medicine physician for Fairview High School in Williamson County. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, cycling, and exploring middle Tennessee with his wife, Kathryn, a Nashville native, and their two kids.
