Dr. James F. Cozzarelli is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute. He completed his undergraduate education at Dickinson College, in Pennsylvania, and then earned his M.D. at George Washington University in the Nation’s Capital. He completed an internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the same institution.
During his medical training at The George Washington University, Dr. Cozzarelli had the privilege of developing his surgical skills in a demanding urban environment under the guidance of nationally renowned orthopedic surgeons over a five-year period. His medical training and surgical successes validated his earliest aspirations to follow his father into the field of surgery. Dr. Cozzarelli regards his father as his mentor, and credits him with cultivating his need and desire to serve patients and their families in a humanistic, compassionate and caring manner.
Dr. Cozzarelli takes great pride in his work and the way he treats patients. He takes his time to listen to patients and never makes them feel rushed or pressured. If surgery is necessary, he does his best to explain fully what he intends to do and why it is necessary, to help his patients feel as relaxed as possible. Dr. Cozzarelli particularly enjoys and specializes in shoulder and knee surgery and fracture care. He has hospital privileges to operate at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center and CentraState Medical Center.
Dr. Cozzarelli grew up in rural Bucks County, Pennsylvania and spent countless summers at the “Jersey Shore,” where he gained an appreciation for the diversity of local residents and the region’s natural beauty. In his free time, Dr. Cozzarelli enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with his wife and children.
