Welcome to Braided Acres. We are a Mangalitsa Pig Farm and Homestead. Our "Mangas" are an old world, heritage breed originating from Hungary. They have thick curly hair in the winter months and are affectionately referred to as sheep pig. The meat is deep red, highly marbled, and considered the "Kobe beef" of pork. Its pure white buttery lard makes award-winning pastries and crust as well as soap, lotion and candles. We are located in upstate NY. The farm is on 5 acres right outside of the Village of Hilton. Our breeder pigs are kept as a family unit and consist of four sows and one boar. They are provided a nice big yard for fresh air and sunshine as well as a huge sow barn for comfort, shelter, and farrowing. After 10 weeks the piglets are weened and led into their very own 3 acres of fields and woods! We have a mix of swallow belly, blonde, or manga cross piglets.
