About

I am a board-certified general surgeon who grew up in the greater Raleigh-Durham area. I am a proud graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill. My journey in medicine has taken me up and down the East Coast over the last two decades. From medical school at Tufts University in Boston to a very broad general surgery residency training at the University of South Florida/Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Upon completion of my training, I joined a busy private practice in Northern Virginia before relocating to the suburbs of Boston, where I most recently practiced. I am beyond excited to return to North Carolina, join the team at UNC/Rex, and more importantly serve the communities here. I feel that it is important for patients to feel empowered in their healthcare decision-making. While I certainly provide my expertise and recommendations, I feel it is important to outline different treatment options as it pertains to a particular problem at our initial consultation. Through conversation and shared decision-making, we can arrive at the best and safest strategy for that individual. While as surgeons, we perform surgery on a daily basis, I pride myself in never losing sight of the fact that surgery, for the patient, is never a mundane experience. It’s this unique bond between surgeon and patient, built on trust, that I find most rewarding about the profession.
