Garrett’s Place is a very special place for my family. In 2017 my oldest son Garrett was searching for a rustic venue to marry the love of his life. They looked at venues as far away as Columbus, Ohio, but everything they found that they liked was too expensive. I bought an old 1871 church 30 years ago and remodeled it into an antique mall that was open for 18 years. I then turned the church into a great woodworking shop, but since my son was looking for a place to have a very special wedding I suggested he consider our old church.
My son loved the idea and got right to work on the remodel truly all by himself. I can’t begin to list all of the work he completed while working as a full time deputy sheriff. I helped when I could, but it was mostly his labor; a true labor of love as he wanted it to be special for his bride-to-be.
Some improvements include lights installed on 22 oak posts; a new furnace and central air; new windows; spacious new men’s and women’s restrooms; beautiful landscaping; and fresh painting. The work went on until the week before his wedding and was completed just in time. I was so moved and proud of my son’s hard work it only seemed right to call our new location, “Garrett’s Place.” We never really planned to turn this into a wedding venue, but his wedding was so beautiful everyone started telling us to rent it out for all kinds of special occasions. Garrett’s Place is family owned and family operated. It is a place full of warmth and love, ready for your special occasion.
