About Laurel Tangalakis, MD
Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Laurel Tangalakis, MD, cares for adult patients with a thoughtful, hands‑on approach. She focuses on obesity treatment and the surgical care of gastroesophageal reflux disease, helping patients improve their health and feel their best. She believes that building relationships with her patients will help them achieve their goals.
Dr. Tangalakis completed her Surgery Residency at Rush University Medical Center and John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County, Chicago, Illinois, after she received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Prior to that, Dr. Tangalakis earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Tangalakis can be found enjoying family time with her husband and daughters, traveling whenever they get the chance, and keeping energized through her favorite fitness pursuits.
