Old Farmers Day is a family affair with the purpose of teaching, reenacting and demonstrating how our forefathers lived, worked, and enjoyed life.
This include a wagon train parade & rides; hog butchering and cooking; all types of field work done with Belgian draft horses and mules; sheep shearing, blacksmith shop; sugar cane grinding and syrup cooking; cooking biscuits, etc. on wood stoves; old timey working kitchen and smoke house; petting zoo & baby animals; antiques/crafts, spinning wheel & weaving, quilt making; all types of food - old timey & modern, and much more.
On Saturday afternoon, Oct 15th, a teamster contest will be held with each teamster demonstrating how well their team can maneuver around various obstacles. Contests for kids are sack races, potato roll, cow chip throwing.
Also, on Sunday, Oct 16th at 1:00 – 3:00, a Horse and Mule Pulling Contest will be held. There are three classes: Heavy weights – over2600 lbs; Light Weights – Under 2600 lbs. with neither horse weighing over 1400 lbs; and Ultra Light – Less than 1600 lbs. with neither horse weighing over 900 lbs.
