Door Service Company was founded on July 1, 1976, as a partnership formed between Mr. Tex Abby and Mr. Steve Abby. The company began very small, concentrating primarily on commercial service. Word of mouth was our only form of advertisement.
As the number of customers grew, more employees, vehicles, and space became necessary. Our organization rented warehouse space in the back of a building on Barret Avenue.
In 1980, Door Service Company moved its operation to a warehouse and office facility located at 639 E. Finzer Street. We rapidly outgrew that facility, and enlarged the space in 1985.
In 1990, a major competitor in the Kentuckiana market closed its operation. This competitor represented the national brand of doors manufactured by OVERHEAD DOOR CORPORATION out of Dallas, TX. After an intense interview process conducted by District and Regional Sales Representatives for OVERHEAD DOOR CORPORATION, Door Service Company was awarded the distributorship rights for the Kentuckiana area.
In January 2000, we relocated our facility to its current location, 1328 West Jefferson Street. Operations of the company include sales, installation, repair, and service on all types of residential, commercial, and industrial doors and door-related products, including commercial finish hardware, dock levelers and related equipment, security gates and devices, grilles, chain closures, etc.
