Dr. Daphna Mezad-Koursh is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at CUMC, Columbia University Medical Center. She is an experienced Pediatric Ophthalmologist and strabismus surgeon who completed fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and strabismus at Children’s National Medical Center, Washington, DC, in 2013. She specializes in the ophthalmologic care of children and the surgical treatment of strabismus (eye misalignment) in children and adults. She conducts general pediatric ophthalmologic exams and provides surgical and medical care for a variety of pediatric ophthalmologic conditions.Dr. Mezad graduated summa cum laude from Ben Gurion University, Israel, and did her residency at Tel Aviv Medical Center affiliated with Tel Aviv University. She joined Columbia University after practicing for more than a decade in Tel Aviv, including managing the Pediatric Ophthalmology Unit of Tel Aviv Medical Center for more than 5 years. In addition to her commitment to clinical and surgical care, Dr. Mezad is an active clinical investigator and has published more than 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals; her main research interests are strabismus and amblyopia (lazy eyes). Dr. Mezad is a member of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS), the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the International Strabismological Association, the World Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and other organizations.
