Dr. Paixao is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology and an Attending Neurologist at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical College, specializing in Vascular Neurology. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from University College London, followed by his medical degree and a master’s degree in Neuroscience from the University of Oxford. Dr. Paixao completed a two-year postdoctoral research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. He then completed his residency in Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, followed by a clinical fellowship in Vascular Neurology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He also completed an NIH StrokeNet research fellowship.He is board-certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Heart Association, and the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology. His research focuses on the development of targeted therapies in stroke and brain health. He serves as a Section Editor for the Stroke Alert Podcast published by the American Heart Association and as an Editorial Board Member for Neurology®.
