Dr. Jerrel Mills is passionate about delivering compassionate, patient-centered dental care to the Myrtle Beach community, where he has lived and practiced since 2013. He earned both his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees from the University of Louisville. Prior to that, he completed his undergraduate studies in Nutritional Science at Brigham Young University, where his interest in whole-body wellness and preventive care began to take shape.
Throughout his life, Dr. Mills has been guided by a deep commitment to service. From earning the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth to choosing a career in healthcare, his path has always centered around helping others. Fluent in Spanish, he values connecting with patients from all walks of life and creating a comfortable, respectful environment where everyone feels heard and cared for.
One of Dr. Mills' favorite aspects of dentistry is the ability to restore a patient’s smile—bringing back not just dental function, but also the confidence and well-being that come with it. In 2016, he traveled to Tanzania with Aspen Dental CEO Bob Fontana and eight other Aspen dentists on a humanitarian mission to provide free extractions for people without access to care—an experience he describes as humbling and unforgettable. Coming from a military family, Dr. Mills' commitment to service is deeply rooted: his grandfathers served in the Army and Navy, his father served in the Air Force, and Dr. Mills himself served four years in the U.S. Navy. That legacy continues today through his work with Aspen Dental’s MouthMobile, where he has spent years “adopting” and caring for veterans in need of dental treatment—an effort he considers one of the most rewarding parts of his career.
In addition to general dentistry, Dr. Mills has a strong interest in preventive and restorative care, patient education, and helping individuals understand how oral health connects to their overall wellness. He is a strong believer in personal accountability and self-sufficiency, and he strives to empower his patients with the knowledge and tools they need to take ownership of their health and well-being. For Dr. Mills, dentistry is not just about treating teeth—it’s about building relationships and helping people live fuller, healthier lives.
Outside of the office, Dr. Mills treasures spending time with his wife and their seven children. He actively supports local high school athletics and takes great pride in watching his daughter compete in varsity volleyball and lacrosse. As an Assistant Scoutmaster, he enjoys leading Scouting adventures with his boys, while also coaching youth basketball and volleyball. A dedicated sports fan, he regularly cheers on his alma maters, BYU and the University of Louisville. Beyond sports, Dr. Mills holds a ham radio license and finds fulfillment in restoring his diesel 1986 Land Cruiser—a hobby that reflects his love of self-reliance and hands-on skills. Known among family and friends for his culinary talents, he delights in crafting homemade pizzas and slow-smoked backyard BBQ, especially pulled pork.
