Natalia Velandia, LCSW is a member of Summit Health's Behavioral Health and Cognitive Therapy Center team. Ms. Velandia specializes in treating patients who are experiencing adjustment difficulties to various life events and those with relational issues. She also has experience working with domestic and sexual violence survivors.
Ms. Velandia is skilled in providing therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflict, and acute stress. She is trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), a type of therapy used to treat PTSD and trauma.
Ms. Velandia prioritizes creating a safe and comforting environment for her patients and appreciating individuality. “I approach patient care with an intersectional lens, acknowledging the identities, challenges and ecosystems that are unique to each patient and empathizing with each one,” she says. “I make sure to provide care that is both trauma-informed and culturally affirming.”
In her free time, Ms. Velandia enjoys camping in upstate New York and attending live music shows.
