Oil and gas production company based in Oklahona City, Oklahoma. Thomas S. Austin, President.
The original APCO Oil Corporation was founded in 1919 under the nene Anderson Prichard Oil Corporation by J. Steve Anderson and Lev Prichard. Over the course of their partnership, the two men founded a number of corporations to produce and distribute petroleum products. Two such companies, APCO Pipeline Company and APCO Refining Corporation both filed bankruptcy. The third attempt at a successful oil company was Anderson Prichard Okie Corporation (APCO). By 1949, both founders were no longer with the company. In 1960, the corporate entity was officially changed to APCO Oil Corporation and operated successfully until its closure in 1979.
Currently, Anderson Family Office (founded by J. Steve Anderson in 1947), uses APCO Oil Corporation to manage its legacy wells and develop new projects in the Permian Basin, Marcellus Shale and Merge developments.
