In 1965, Robert A. Coulson, the founder of Mr. Hero opened his first submarine shop on Cleveland’s Westside. Grills and fryers soon became a part of the concept, and with it, the evolvement of an exciting menu positioned around Mr. Hero’s iconic Hot Buttered Cheesesteaks™ and Romanburgers®. In 2018 the Steakery was developed, adding five uniquely delicious steak sandwiches to the menu. The Steakery transformed the Mr. Hero concept from a singular steak sandwich favorite into a significant steak category, putting Mr. Hero as a solid leader in the steak sandwich segment. Since the company’s inception in 1965, Mr. Hero has expanded its brand into Toledo, Columbus, Akron, and all throughout Northeast Ohio.
