Focused on adult and child psychiatry, Mali Mann, MD, cares for clients of all ages using individual, group, play, and family psychotherapy models and psychoanalysis. With offices in Palo Alto and San Francisco, Dr. Mann has researched cross cultural issues, transference phenomenon, and alternate reproductive technology to utilize, and she makes use of her findings in her practice. Additionally, she co-chaired the discussion group “Psychoanalysis of Twins” for the American Psychoanalytic Association in 2013. Also that year, Mali Mann, MD, was honored as the “Top Child and Adolescent Psychoanalyst in California” by the International Association of Healthcare Professionals.
Along with treating patients, Dr. Mann has belonged to the faculties of several colleges. At Stanford University's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, she taught courses entitled Didactics in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychiatric Interview Techniques, and The Impact of Immigration on Clinical Setting. She has also performed as a clinical supervisor in its child, adolescent, and adult program since 1986. Students of San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute have benefited from Dr. Mali Mann's insights into topics ranging from the effect of chronic illness on pre-Oedipal development to adolescent psychosexual development. Presently, she is on teaching and supervisory faculty at at the San Mateo Psychiatry Residency Program.
