Dr. Zyzda has been practicing in Denver and the surrounding communities since 1989. He began his career in health care as a nurse, first graduating from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City, IA as a Registered Nurse and then working in intensive care. He continued his studies at Briar Cliff University, also in Sioux City, IA, obtaining his BS in Nursing. His attention then turned to medicine, receiving his doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from the University of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, IA. Finally, Dr. Zyzda attended the Veterans Administration Podiatric Surgical Residency in Denver, CO. Special emphasis during his residency included reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, trauma, advanced wound care, severe infections, and preventing amputations in diabetics. Dr. Zyzda is Board Certified by both the American Board of Podiatric Surgery as well as the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Continued training includes endoscopic surgery, shock wave therapy, and laser surgery. Dr. Zyzda gives back to his profession in 3 ways: 1) teaches residents from the PSL Foot and Ankle Surgical Residency, 2) member of the Residency Executive Advisory Board for PSL Foot and Ankle Surgical residency, and 3) member of the Medical Executive Committee for Summit View Surgical Center. He is a former foot and ankle specialist for the Denver Nuggets Basketball Team.
Interests of his include playing hockey with his fellow physicians on their team “Hockey Docs”; hiking, backpacking, and technical climbing (senior instructor, Technical Climbing School director, and trip leader for the Colorado Mountain Club, climbed all of the Colorado 14ers); Biblical studies (graduate of the 4 year Catholic Biblical School); skiing, flyfishing and being with his family. Dr. Zyzda has been married to his wife Margie for over 35 years and they have two children, Melissa and Nick as well as 5 grandchildren and counting!
Dr. Christopher Michael Scotten was born and raised in central Montana and received his undergraduate degree from Montana State University and graduate degree from Boise State University. He then received his doctor of podiatric medicine degree from Dr. William M Scholl College of Podiatry in North Chicago. Dr. Scotten then performed his residency program in Chicago at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he trained with a multitude of highly respected podiatrists. He received extensive experience in wound care, foot and ankle trauma, sports medicine, biomechanics, rearfoot and forefoot surgeries.
Dr. Scotten grew up competing in almost every sport including wrestling, football, baseball, soccer, basketball, swimming and golf, so he is familiar with many types of sporting injuries. His interest in podiatric medicine was peaked after working as a medical sales rep for 3 years and his family’s history of working in the medical field. He is currently board qualified with American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in Forefoot and Rearfoot Reconstructive Surgery. He is also a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American Podiatric Medical Association.
