About

GREG SANDERS
MSMFT
MFT (Registered Intern)
#R4242

I believe that everyone deserves to function in a healthy family with good stability, accessing and understanding our self while enhancing our emotional bond as individuals, couples, and families. I employ therapy techniques to help negative interactions and promote positive change. I abide by the Code of Ethics as set forth by the Board of Counselors & Therapists in Oregon and the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapist.

Welcome! I am pleased to have the opportunity to introduce you to the therapy experience. People I work with come to therapy when faced with life issues. The first session we get to know each other, and I listen to your descriptions of struggles and work to understand your circumstances.

The second session focuses on getting a good definition for the struggle(s). We also come together on a treatment plan that we together will work on to help in accomplishing the desired goals you hope to gain.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist Registered Intern, I work with individuals, couples, and families with many struggles that come up in personal and relational life. Some of the more common struggles are couple or family conflict, parenting struggles, depression, anxiety, and trauma. Click on the links below to explore our services further.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
When I work with people as individuals, I have found that most of us are looking for the same things, a place to connect, someone who will hear and understand, and a path to overcome our hurts, so we can experience healing again. Some of the more common struggles are: Broken relationships, loss of a loved one, and loneliness.

Broken Relationships: One of the biggest questions with broken or failed relationships is, “How did I end up this way?”. Learning to trust again and understanding where things went wrong can be the most difficult parts in the healing journey. Together we can work on a process to find healing.
Loss of a Loved One: Is one of the deepest hurts and the grief can overwhelm us. Little reminders can bring you to a place where you feel crippled or unable to function. Together we can listen to the struggles with grief. Honor the memories that come from the heart. Find solace in the continued journey.
Loneliness: We all, at times, experience loneliness and there are many questions we struggle with through our experience. Wondering who might care for us, or why do I feel empty. Together we can explore these questions towards a sense of completeness or self worth.

COUPLE'S THERAPY
As I work with couples, married or not, I have found there are differing degrees of relationship challenges from: getting through a disagreement, putting a plan together for a life time together, or ending a relationship. I work with couples on relational struggles, premarital planning, and marital struggles.

Relational and Marital Struggles: Whether in a new dating relationship or being married for years, we all hit some rough spots or feel a little stuck at times. Understanding how our cycle happens with the ones we love and how we might change aspects of our cycle to interact on more positive steps, helps build and strengthen our relationships. Together we can work to understand the cycle and how it might change to better your relationship.
Premarital Planning: Starting a life together is a wonderful journey that can have several challenges along the way. Understanding the difficulties in the process will help in times of compromise. Together we can put together a plan that will help you navigate the pitfalls and landmines that often develop during the honeymoon stages of our relationships.

FAMILY THERAPY
Many of the families that come to therapy find themselves trying to overcome problems within the structure of the family. Family struggles can include misunderstanding of rules or traditions, roles between parents, teens or children, and complicated outside influences.

Conflict within or outside of the family boundary system: Our conflicts in life can be overwhelming as our lives are so busy. Together we can work through the misunderstanding of conflict stemming from inside or outside the family, creating safe spaces of understanding for healing.
Roles in the Family: Can change with age, adding new members, and changing elements in the lives of the family members. Together we can identify, define or re-define the change that occurred in your family as is the normal process in all families.
