Founder Chef Alain Lecomte has been working since he was 15 years old, with beginnings in Paris and Monte Carlo, France. In 2000, he was rewarded for his years of work and recognized as a Master Chef of France, a high honor indeed. He and his family moved to Virginia 12 years ago and he began working at Prince Michel Winery as a Chef, but he and Annie (his wife), held on to the dream of owning their own restaurant in Richmond, Virginia. Chez Max is the realization of that dream.
Chez Max offers classical French cuisine and savory aromas drift from the kitchen as one enters the front door, giving a hint of culinary delights to come. The casual and comfortable, yet elegant interior of the restaurant is warm and inviting. A large stone fireplace adorns a corner in the main dining room, casting a soft glow around the room.
