Dr. Juan A. Astruc, Jr., a Richmond native, lives with his wife and four children. He earned a B.S. in Business from Virginia Tech and a Medical Degree from the Medical College of Virginia, where he also completed his Internal Medicine internship and Ophthalmology residency. He pursued a fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery and Macular Diseases at Vanderbilt University with Dr. J. Donald M. Gass. Board-certified, he is a fellow of the AAO and a member of ASRS. He served on Virginia’s DMV Medical Advisory Board (2006–2016) and specializes in retinal detachments, ocular trauma, macular surgery, vascular diseases, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
