Ted's Terrific Tuesday Tip of the Day... Work with Awesome People. Had a bit of a leadership retreat today to cover two of our "6 Principle P's" - People and Planning. Justine and I talked about how blessed we are to work with such an amazing group. Do you have a tip for me?

I got a simple request from an old friend's daughter. She needed some extra snacks for her students. I bought a few things and then received the greatest thank you from a bunch of young kids....Yep, made my day. Thank you Miss Keller for being awesome.

I am thankful for all the businesses that have trusted my office and my team that cares for them. This one is pretty cool in that I think my office is only one of two offices to ever recieve this award in Salem. Those who know me understand that I'm not much of a trophy person... but I am honored by this one being a small business owner myself.

TEN YEARS AGO.... Justine and I wanted to do a leadership scholarship for South Salem HS as a way to honor an amazing teacher, Kathy August. Working with Kathy, we put together the Saxon Servant Leadership Scholarship. The goal was to honor two students that were "SERVING TO THE POINT WHERE OTHERS CAN'T HELP BUT FOLLOW." This year's amazing winners were Sadie Patterson and Gibson Hanowell. Thank you Kathy for being such a great and loving example for our community of what real servant leadership looks like... It was nice to have her give some love to former Saxon and student... Heath... she asked if he has grown 😉

Thankful, thankful Friday... what are you thankful for today? It's Thursday and I'm going to give your taste buds something to be thankful for tomorrow. We were just at the Friends and Family night at the new Bo & Vine next to Northern Lights... it's just crazy flavorful and amazing. This is a great place to use up all your daily calorie needs. Thank Mike, Katrina and the whole Adams family,,, great to see a lot of other small businesses there too. On the way out we saw Eleazar and Cynthia from Bison! Just a lot of great people and awesome place. What will you be thankful for on Friday?

When our sidewalk started developing a couple of trip hazards, I asked Kyle, "Yo, do you know someone that can handle this size of job?" "It's too small for big concrete companies and too big for a weekend warrior." He said, "No worries, my brother and I can handle that" Looks Amazing and they helped us stay open the whole time. When the Mayor's office asks you to be involved with 34 Community Non-profits, city leaders, housing authorities, a couple of businesses, along with police and fire leadership... you need to say YES!!!

What are you thankful for today? Hoopla Kids Camp… the Unruh family and everyone they recruit to make every part of this event so cool. I keep telling people, events that bring kids, community and sport together are where I want to be. What are you thankful for today?

The always Nationally Ranked Corban University Women's Volleyball team never had a stand alone PINK OUT event. As many know... Breast Cancer Awareness is something I have worked on for decades in our community.

Ted's Terrific Tuesday Tip of the Day.... The sun is always setting on something... that's ok... the world keeps spinning.

Thankful, thankful Friday... what are you thankful for today? TWO bits Bad Advice I heard 15 years ago and ONE I got 3 years ago. #1 "Don't ever be in a small business Ted, you are to caring and the community will never support you. You can't make it trying to do the right thing for people." #2 "Don't ever work with family, it will tear your kids apart from you." #3 "Don't encourage your family to do insurance." If we didn't hear bad advice sometimes, the good advice wouldn't be so clear. I've been so blessed. The more we give back to the Valley, the more people want to see if my office is a good fit. I have had the honor of having all my kids, my wife and so many friends on the payroll. Truly makes it more fun. My son is doing great as an agent and I still have family and friends on the payroll. We aren't a perfect office, but I don't know a team that works harder at trying to serve others.
