Timothy Hale earned his B.A. degree from Cal State Sacramento in 1992, and his J.D. degree from the University of Utah College of Law in 1996 where he was a member of the Law Review. After being admitted to practice in California in 1996, he has focused on civil litigation. He participated in his first jury trial to verdict in 1998, and has served as lead counsel in trial and binding arbitration of a number of lawsuits, most recently in February 2014 in a childhood sexual abuse jury trial against the Boy Scouts of America in Santa Barbara Superior Court.

Jennifer Miller is a partner at Nye, Stirling, Hale, Miller & Sweet where she focuses on handling complex litigation. Her practice focuses on civil litigation in both state and federal court. Jennifer has represented large companies, public entities and individuals in cases involving employment discrimination, wrongful termination, breach of contract, negligence and civil rights violations.

David Nye, the founder of Nye, Stirling, Hale, Miller & Sweet, entered the practice of law in 1976. As a criminal prosecutor with the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, he quickly gained valuable experience in trial work. In 1977 he was made the supervising attorney of the Van Nuys Criminal Branch of the City Attorney’s Office, where he was responsible for supervising and training 23 trial attorneys, 5 hearing officers, and support staff. He also was responsible for maintaining liaisons with the judges, budget and policy development, and prosecution of complex trial matters.
