Established in 1980.
For nearly 100 years the Schug Family has grown Pinot Noir in both Europe and California. In 1921 our grandfather Ewald Schug crafted Spaetburgunder from the famed 12th-century Hollenberg vineyard in Assmannshausen, Germany. His son Walter came to California in 1959, eventually garnering international acclaim as the founding winemaster for Joseph Phelps in Napa Valley. In 1980 he founded his own label to focus on Pinot Noir from Sonoma's newly emerging Carneros district. Now run by 3rd generation Pinot producers, Schug wines capture old-world style and tradition in every bottle.
