My approach to care delivery is first attentively listening to the patient and understanding what they need and desire from the encounter and my care.
Based on that information, chart review and physical exam, I strive to sit with the patient and thoroughly discuss my assessment.
Then I like to outline the management options available, clearly discussing the benefits and risks of each. I attempt to provide individualized care that is evidence based and formulated from the most current data and research.
I want the patient to appreciate that they too are part of the treatment team and can choose which treatment, or lack thereof, they want to pursue.
My ultimate goal is to endure I prioritize the goals of the patient over my own and to ensure they feel heard and that their preferences are respected.
