The Tuscaloosa Transit Authority system is the public transit system. Trolleys began running in the 1800's and was brought back in 1999. The trolleys were first used in the downtown area, then UA home football games. Trolleys service has been expanded and now runs on all 7 fixed routes. Five demand response vans run from 5:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M., Monday through Friday and are utilized to transport individuals curb to curb to medical appointments, dialysis, etc.
