Originally from Ft. Wayne Indiana, Dr. Givens was a University Division Scholar in biology at Indiana University. He is a US Air Force veteran, and during his service he was stationed at South Carolina’s Shaw Air Force Base. In addition to his medical school education and residency, Dr. Givens has completed advanced thoracic surgery training. Dr. Givens has also completed postgraduate specialty training in laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgical procedures. These advanced procedures involve surgery of the lung, esophagus and stomach. Dr. Givens is board certified in both general surgery and bariatric medicine.
