Since 1993 in the beautiful Byron Hinterland of NSW the Professional Driving Consultancy (PDC) has helped more than 3000 clients in and around Lismore, Ballina and Casino broaden and deepen their driving skills.
PDC offers driving lessons in both a dual-controlled 5-speed manual car (all-wheel-drive Subaru Impreza) and auto (ultra-safe and ultra-ecological Toyota Prius). It also provides free pick-up and drop off - and a free drive to quiet and safe start-off places.

Unlike traditional driving schools, PDC rarely ‘instructs’ or ‘directs’. PDC suggests, it guides, it helps. PDC’s one-on-one tuition cultivates lateral (‘right brain’) learning – balancing school classrooms’ cultivation of logical (‘left brain’) learning - thereby better meeting the needs of interactive traffic flow driving as well as better balancing the brain. So also resulting in better academic results.

PDC’s Proprietor, Charles, is a calm, patient, relaxed, friendly and deeply qualified and experienced driving instructor who professionally provides profound and permanent pupil-friendly packages.

PDC's unique Dynamic Defensive Driving ('3D') CourseWork uses its copyrighted 3D WorkSheet. The 3D WorkSheet enables clients to deepen their 3D skills in 3D lessons and in a more structured private practice. It also helps motivate parents, relatives and friends to provide private practice. And it helps clients to experience even the more economical two hour sessions as if they were less than one hour!

PDC also provides accurate written 3D Assessments.

PDC provides financial incentives for applicants to choose learning packages in a carefully structured series of 3D sessions.

PDC’s 3D WorkSheet best enables, particularly at the very start of one's learn-to-drive experience, deepenable 3D skills to be built through four accumulating layers. These comprise interaction with
• the car through its controls and facilities;
• specific streetscape features within point-to-point driving;
• mobile elements of traffic flows; and
• potentially mobile/hazardous entities.
These skills are best assessed when 3D CourseWork has been completed (though clients’ existing skills can also be assessed).

Charles has, since 2011, been one of the very few driving instructors accredited by the NSW RMS as an Older Driver Assessor. He has provided more than 150 friendly and relaxing RMS Older Driver Assessments to senior drivers keen to refer him to their family and friends.

A qualified Platinum provider of FREE (Commonwealth Government funded) Keys2Drive sessions enables Charles to provide learner drivers and their supervising drivers with rich and rewarding practical insights into how learners can best keep safe for the first six months after gaining their ‘P’s.

As a Member of the NSW Driver Trainers Association, PDC holds comprehensive, professional indemnity and public liability insurances.

In addition to serving more than 30 continuous years as a driving instructor, Charles has held, since 1979, the single most appropriate University qualification for a driving instructor - a Bachelor of Arts in Psychosociology from Melbourne University. Charles has updated his previous senior qualifications to both a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (the TAFE teaching qualification) and to a Certificate IV in Car Driving Instruction.
