Die Kirche von Ilmenau-Roda ist eine Saalkirche mit eingezogenem Rechteckchor und Nordturm. Der Bau wurde 1573 begonnen und etwa 1630 beendet. Der Turmaufsatz und die sehr schönen Fenster entstanden nach 1696. 1894 wurde die Kirche renoviert und es erfolgte der Anbau der Stützpfeiler im Westen, sowie die Erneuerung der Innenausstattung. In den Jahren 1993/94 war die letzte Renovierung.Das Portal mit einem Diamantquaderbogen, vermutlich von 1696, befindet sich am Nordturm. Der Innenraum der Kirche verfügt über eine Holztonnendecke, eine zweigeschossige Empore und eine Empore mit Kanzelkorb über dem Altar aus dem 18. Jahrhundert.
