Von der damaligen romanischen Kirche sind noch Teile erhalten, so z.B. die rundbogige Doppelarkade im Untergeschoss des alten Wehrturmes und Reste von romanischen Fenstern auf der Nordseite. Im 13. Jahrhundert wurde die Kirche umgebaut und wahrscheinlich auch nach Osten verlängert; so entstand die schlichte Saalkirche mit ihrem Tonnengewölbe. Ende des 17., Anfang des 18. Jahrhunderts erfolgte eine erneute Erweiterung nach Osten, wobei auch die barocke Innenausstattung mit Kanzel, Altar, Beichtstuhl und Emporen eingebaut wurden. Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts wurden Weiber-, Adels-, und Beichtstühle entfernt. Chor-, Ober- und Schülerempore wurden bei der letzten Restaurierung 1971/72 beseitigt.Das bedeutendste Kunstwerk ist wohl die Kanzel.
