1169 werden schon Stadt und Schloss Ranis erwähnt. Wir können ohne Zweifel auch das Besteheneiner Kirche als sicher annehmen, da zum Wenigsten die Existenz einer Schlosskapelle gewiss ist.Sonstige ältere Zeugnisse gibt es leider nicht. 1506 wird die Kirche erstmals ausdrücklich erwähnt. 1870 erfuhr das Gotteshaus eine Erneuerung, bei der die ältere Ausstattung entfernt wurde. Der Turm steht an der Seite, die Kirche ist zweiteilig als Chorhaus und Schiff gebaut. Das heutige Erscheinungsbild ist der Neugotik verpflichtet. Der Altarblock steht frei mitten im Chor. Gewissermaßen um ihn versammelt sind die Figuren der vier Evangelisten im Halbkreis an der Chorwand. Hinter ihm erscheint im Hauptfenster die Auferstehung,datiert 1901. Daru
