Starting out as a white shirt designed for innerwear for American football players, Under Armour came to existence from the problem that rose from common cotton T-shirts bunching up under sports gear. Founded by Kelvin Plank, who was then a captain on the University of Maryland football team, Under Armour sought to manufacture shirts that were soft, skin-tight, stretchy but most importantly, able to wick sweat faster than anything else out there, keeping athletes cool, dry and light.
