The initial idea of Arlene K. Diaz, owner of Guhit Kamay, came from Robert Kholoma, her father. The father-daughter team already produces finished products that were successfully marketed in most SM Shoemart Department stores, both in Metro Manila branches and in provincial outlets, like SM Cebu, SM Ilo-ilo, and SM Davao. The finished products include handpainted t-shirts, caps and bags. Arlene K. Diaz wanted a store that would showcase handpainting services, and would eventually expand into different artistry, such as candles, lamps, decorative jars and bottles, trays and flower pots and keeping in mind their objective to put art into the households and lifestyle of people.
