Cornwall Community Services, also known as the Mevagissey Activity Centre, provides support at home, in the community and supported living to children, young people and adults with a range of physical disabilities, learning disabilities and complex health needs across Cornwall. We are open Monday to Friday and can offer transport to and from the day service. We aim to provide you with the support and opportunities you need to lead a fulfilling lifestyle by offering a range of services which are tailored to your needs.
We can provide support for as much or as little time as you wish; whether it’s for a few hours, a day, an evening, or in a supported living setting for 24 hours a day. What we provide is different for every individual, based on their needs and wishes. The people we support can be supported to learn and develop skills in:
• Caring for themselves
• Living independently
• Building and maintaining relationships with friends and family
• Accessing services, resources and activities in the community
We can support you with tasks like washing, dressing, taking medication and preparing meals, 24 hours a day – but what we offer is much more. With us, you are supported to live the life you want, your way. You’ll gain new skills, confidence and independence.
We offer a wide range of person-centred activities and sessions throughout the week including:
• sports, fitness or outdoor activities, such as Zumba and hydrotherapy
• creative arts, photography, woodwork and gardening
• computer and iPad workshops
• public transport training, familiarising with local bus services and confidence building
• going shopping
• meeting friends
• travelling to college
• going to the cinema, theatre, concerts or a football match
The centre is fully accessible complete with a lift and accessible toilets with hoists. There is a garden where customers can grow fruit and vegetables, as well as flowers, and a kitchen where cooking sessions take place.
Through our flexible support you’ll gain new skills, confidence and independence. It’s your choice what you’ll do.
