In 1938, six Waco ISD teachers pooled $60 to form Educators Credit Union. Over the past 70 years, ECU has grown to become the largest locally-owned credit union in Central Texas with more than 30,000 members and over $260 million in assets. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works or attends school in McLennan, Bosque, Hill, Falls, Coryell and Lampasas counties. From the beginning, the education community has been the foundation of ECU's membership. In 2005, ECU expanded their membership to serve everyone in the community, no matter your profession. Above all, ECU strives to provide sound financial services, which are beneficial to their members, in a caring and professional manner.
