Our mission is to build our students into a Black Belt, to make our students more successful in life through practice of their martial arts and to always influence them in a positive manner. Literally “karate-do" means the way of the empty hand, referring to the fact that practioners use only the hands, feet and body. Ultimately the purpose of karate is not physical power but the development of balance, harmony and spirit through disciplined training which imbues you with peace and wholeness of character to enrich day-to-day life. Kickboxing Kickboxing arose from karate in the late 1970's. Practitioners of karate found they wanted to test themselves fully against other practitioners of their art and hence fight full contact. They took the punches and upper body movement of boxing and melded it with the kicks of karate to create an effective and, when practiced with correct technique elegant fighting style. we still consider kickboxing to be a martial art. A martial art is something anyone can practice, Martial arts are about self-improvement and challenging yourself to be the best that you can be. Thus we welcome everyone to our club, no matter their ability, and believe we have one of the most inclusive and friendly clubs at Zen-Shin Academy.
