I am a consultant eye surgeon at the Bristol Eye Hospital and a partner of South West Eye Surgeons, Clifton. I have worked in all areas of ophthalmology for over 14 years. My special area of expertise is in retinal diseases having spent over 2 years undergoing specific training (a period referred to as fellowship) at the Sydney Eye Hospital and the Bristol Eye Hospital. I have a special interest in patient safety and quality assurance, and am the clinical governance officer for the Eye Hospital. Besides the complexities and technical aspects of eye disease, I place special emphasis on a warm bedside manner and good communication with patients and relatives. I have trained in general ophthalmology in the Midlands, the South of England and Barcelona, Spain, carrying out over 1500 major retinal operations and in excess of 1400 cataract operations. I have specialist skills is complex cataract surgery, retinal detachment treatment, macular diseases and treatment of eye injuries.
