Brantgate Situated in the peaceful hamlet of Mosedale, mid way between Penrith and Keswick in the northern Lake District, Brantgate Bed & Breakfast offers comfortable holiday accommodation. The house nestles in the shadow of Carrock Fell. The outlook to the rear being the steeply rising flank of the fell itself, to the front a patchwork of open fields. Mosedale (near Mungrisdale), offers superb and unspoilt scenery in a quieter area of the Lakes, yet is just 15 minutes from Keswick. We are ideally positioned not only to explore the rest of Cumbria and the Lake District National Park, but the Scottish Borders, Hadrian’s Wall, the North Pennines and the Eden Valley. Excellent walking is available right on the doorstep in this beautiful part of the northern Lakes. A walk up Carrock fell behind the house offers what Wainwright described as 'one of the most exciting and interesting fells in the northern area of Lakeland'; from here it is possible to have fantastic views across the Eden Valley and the North Pennines. Whether it is a relaxing break or an activity weekend a warm and friendly Cumbrian welcome awaits you at Brantgate Bed and Breakfast. Accommodation Accommodation consists of one double room and one twin room. Bedrooms are non-smoking and individually decorated. They also have the additional comforts of tea and coffee making facilities. The view from both of these rooms is looking east across the valley over a patchwork of fields and woodland. Local Area Brantgate B & B is perfectly located for an enjoyable and relaxing stay in the Lake District National Park. We are ideally situated to not only explore Keswick and Lake Derwentwater, Ullswater, Grasmere (the home of Wordsworth), Ambleside and many other places in the Lake District, but we are also within easy driving distance of the Scottish Borders, Hadrian's Wall, the North Pennine Dales and the Eden Valley. We have excellent walking close by, with walks up Saddleback (Blencathra), Skiddaw and Carrock that can begin from our doorstep. We can offer advice on walking in the Lakeland fells and can recommend walks to suit all abilities, from strenuous walks up one of the mountains to more gentle strolls around a picturesque lake. Cyclists / Mountain Bikers will also find the roads much quieter in the Northern Fells and there are off road routes for the more adventurous. We are also on one of the Lands End to John 0'Groats cycle routes and a short hop from the C2C cycle route. There are numerous activities available locally, ranging from hang gliding, climbing and mountain biking or for those seeking less strenuous pursuits, castles, gardens, museums and stately homes to relaxing in the evening in one of the local country pubs or at the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick.
