Holly Cottage ~ Offering 17th century cottage accommodation situated in Bowness Windermere Cumbria. Holly Cottage dates back to the 17th century and is situated in the center of Bowness in Windermere Cumbria, this is within the conservation area of the oldest part of the village. We offer four double en-suite rooms each with tea/coffee making facilities and colour televisions. Most rooms overlook the garden. Access to the house is available for your use at all times. Pets are welcome, by arrangement. No smoking in the house please! We have a large organic cottage garden which is wildlife friendly. Jan is a keen gardener and is a member of the RHS and cottage garden society. She will be able to recommend gardens of interest in the surrounding area. Holly Cottage ~ Based in the centre of the Bowness Windermere Cumbria. We are in the centre of the village and close to the shops and restaurants. Lake Windermere is a couple of minutes walk away. From the pier there are various boat trips around the lake. Rowing boats and self-drive motor boats can be hired nearby. Bowness has a wealth of pubs, restaurants and shops to suit individual tastes. Bowness is a perfect location for walks, and Jan and Jim will be happy to suggest suitable places. Horseriding is available at the end of our road at Lakeland Equestrian Centre. Steam enthusiasts will be keen to visit the steam museum, the steam yaught Gondola, the Lakeside & Haverthwaite railway, and the Ravenglass and Eskdale steam railway. Holly Cottage ~ Activities available in the Bowness near the cottage. Cycling is particularly popular with numerous tracks and cycle ways and very good mountain bike trails in Grizedale forest park, near Hawkshead. Literary followers can visit the two homes of William Wordsworth at Dove Cottage, Grasmere, Rydal Mount near Ambleside, and Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin at Coniston. Within the area are several stately homes, some privately owned, such as Muncaster Castle, Levens Hall and Holker Hall. The National Trust has numerous areas of parkland and places of interest, such as Sizergh Castle, near Kendal, Townend house, Troutbeck, and Beatrix Potters house at Hill top, Near Sawrey. Many other attractions include the Pencil museum at Keswick, South Lakes Wild Animal Park at Dalton in Furness, the World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness, and the Aquarium of the Lakes at Lakeside. Nothing can compare however, to the dramatic splendour of the natural beauty of this wonderful area, which is waiting to welcome you soon.
