The Mawddwy Valley offers rural peace and tranquility. Nant-y-Nodyn's four self catering cottages - a quarter of a mile apart - are situated in this valley, about two miles from the wool village of Dinas Mawddwy and near the highest pass in Wales which leads to Vyrnwy and Bala lakes. The market towns of Dolgellau and Machynlleth are about 20 minutes by car, while the coast, a little further, offers a wide choice of lovely beaches. The cottages are part of a sheep and beef organic farm which has been positively managed with conservation in mind, and guests are welcome to explore and enjoy the wildlife. The valley offers rural peace and tranquility and is an ideal base for walkers of all capabilities, with the challenging peaks of Aran Fawddwy and Cader Idris nearby. Nearby in the village is the Meirion Woollen Mill, cafe, restaurant and pubs. A little further afield are the Centre for Alternative Technology, narrow-gauge railways, RSPB reserves, leisure centres and pony trekking.
