Best Pub Food Pub in Wales 2007 as voted by The Morning Advertiser The Usk was established in the 1840s at the time of the Brecon to Merthyr Railway. It has an enviable position on the edge of the village, opposite the former railway station and yard. Imagine if you can, how the patrons of the Inn would have felt when the Wild Run of 1878 spilled the Locomotive Hercules onto Station Road! ! The Brecon to Monmouthshire canal runs along the 300 ft contour, through the centre of the village, about a quarter of a mile from the Inn, in some instances at roof level. The Usk Inn has been transformed from an ordinary village pub into a country inn and restaurant with rooms of excellence. The Usk has been completely refurbished in sympathetic style, returning to it the atmosphere and ambience of a traditional village inn. The spotless bedrooms are bright and cheerful, finished in a refreshing choice of colours.
